Is anyone running SQL Server 2005 on XP Media PC? I did install the program but even though I selected an installation of sample db's, they didn't install. Also, the option to install 'reporting services' was not available to be checked. I'm new at this and believe I need IIS installed. I looked and saw all kinds of IIS 'things' in a search. I don't know what I'm looking for.
thx,
Kat
hi kat,
to install IIS
start>run>control>add remove programs>Add remove windows component>Internet information server(iis)
please have your windows xp installer ready
reporting services available only with enterprise edition
sample programs are available at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=E719ECF7-9F46-4312-AF89-6AD8702E4E6E&displaylang=en
if it doesn't install automatically on the server you can attach it with sql server magement studio express(MS). plese refer to your other post for SQL-MS

|||Right now I am running on my old Dell Latitude with SQL 2000. It has 2000 professional edition but I think 2005 will die on this pc. I'm getting my bios rewritten on my newer laptop which has Windows xp on it. Someone said that I could install the developer edition on this new pc and that I could do something with reporting services in the developer edition.
NOTE: This is a standalone laptop with no access to a server. Will any of this work IIS configuration, Web services, Report Services with the developer edition of 2005? I'm getting so frustrated with this. Everyone wants Reporting experience but how do you get it if you aren't working in a position that has this all set up.
I thought I could install reporting services, IIS, etc for 2000 on this standalone pc with sql 2000, is that a yes or no. I would like this to go out to everyone.
thx,
Kat
|||reporting services runs only on the enterprise edition of sql server 2000|||I was told it would also run on the developer edition. This will all be easier when I get my laptop back (xp pro) and I can install 2005 developer edition... maybe then it'll be easier to find out what you guys already know.
thx,
kat
|||sql server 2000 rs runs only on enterprise edition of sql server
