SAN Replication vs Database Mirroring

If we have our databases tied to a SAN, why would I consider SAN based
replication vs database mirrroring as a Disaster Recovery solution?
Database Mirroring is free and could accomplish protecting our data and want
to know why would i even think of SAN based replication from EMC or Hitachi
for that matter.
Please let me know. Thanks
Database Mirroring is a data protection/high availability solution on the
database level...And with a witness in place gives you automatic failover.
I don't now San replication....but i don't think it can give you the same
options.
|||You may have other data outside of SQL on the SAN that needs replication.
Also, SAN replication is typically implemented as part of a geo-stretch
failover cluster, which fails the entire serer. Mirroring works at the
individual database level only.

If you have one or a few databases to replicate, Database Mirroring is fine.
What if you have 10's, 100's, or more databases to replicate? Setting up and
maintaining numerous Database Mirroring instances has considerable support
overhead. One advantage of SAN-level replication is that it's largely
transparent to the DBAs.
